Note:Electrolytes and Non-electrolytes

Electrolytes and Non-electrolytes

Electrolytes

Non-electrolytes

Substances that can conduct electricity when they are in molten states or aqueous solution and undergo chemical changes

Non electrolytes are substances that cannot conduct electricity either in molten state or aqueous solution.

Examples :

dilute acids and alkalis

molten zinc bromide

sodium chloride solution

Examples :

naphthalene,

benzene

alcohol

tetrachloromethane

Here are some exercises you can try...Enjoy and have fun !!!

Classify the following into electrolytes and non-electrolytes.

(a). Hydorchloric acid:_______________

(b). Ammonia solution:_________________

(c). Glucose solution:________________

(d). Solid sodium chloride:______________

(e). Molten lead:____________________
